Shop Window Displays and Vintage Mannequins
Whilst browsing a secondhand bookshop in Norwich recently, I came across this beautiful book on The Art of Draping from 1936.
The shop window displays of the time are quite stunning, as are the mannequins.. The pictures in the book are quite small so I have blown them up and enhanced as best I could.
The mannequins were made by British Display Figures Ltd.
1940’s Fashion Magazines…Raffia and Felt
Antiques fair in the forum in Norwich picked these amazing German fashion magazines fom 1942. Absolutely adore the colours, the magazines also have their original sewing patterns although thay are a tad more complicated than our patterns! Also got a couple of nice 1920s/30s Raffia pattern books….but best of all a whole stack of vintage felt in nice vintage colours.

The dress patterns, try to make sense of this!

Some Good From Bad
Yesterday evening I went to one of the worst car boot sales I have ever been to….
I was quite disappointed as I had made a special trip and honestly the stuff was rubbish… Just as I was leaving I stumbled upon these, so the trip wasnt completely wasted.
We love childrens book illustrations and these two beautiful books are falling apart so I will have no guilt in removing the pages and framing up some of the wonderful prints.
